The The Jowai Municipal Board constituted under the Meghalaya Municipal Act 1973, is required to take up such works which are essential for provision of the civic services and management of the city.
Functions of Jowai Municipal Board :

• To take up all civil related works under its jurisdiction such Hygiene services, regulation of trading license, hoardings, kiosks, registration of birth and death, facilating upgradation of the means of livelihood, and efficient services to tax payers.
